The Springfield Community Federation sponsors several events throughout the year.

Community Awareness Fairs

A “Community Awareness” event is co-sponsored by the Federation in June each year. This event partners the Federation with Serving Jesus Willingly Urban Ministries as well as with numerous social service agencies and St. John’s Hospital to provide free blood pressure screenings, health education, HIV testing, Springfield Police Department canine demonstrations and home safety tips, child abuse prevention awareness, as well as information about services that the Springfield Community Federation and other local organizations provide to the community.

Miracles of Sprucing

Each year, the Springfield Community Federation partners with a local neighborhood association to assist with “sprucing” a neighborhood. Volunteers pitch in for a half day Saturday to help senior and disabled homeowners with tasks such as painting porches, repairing gutters, taking out trash, etc. in order to not only assist those in need, but also to enhance neighborhood pride.

While the neighborhood is being brightened, a social service fair is set up in a central neighborhood location to provide all residents with information about free services available to them throughout central Illinois.

Past volunteers have included the Church of the Latter Day Saints, Boy Scouts, Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Springfield Public Works Department and community volunteers.

Blanket & Coat Drive

The SCF sponsors an annual coat drive to help those in need during the coldest part of our Illinois winters.
