Hour / Attendance Requirements

bulletMember must be available daily during specific periods of time to assist staff with Youth Programs, and maintain consistent weekly attendance patterns.
bulletMembers must maintain Service Registries daily (Time Sheets).
Service Activities
 
bulletServes as a resource guide and model for parents and staff for early childhood programs.
bulletServe as tutor and mentor for grade school students.
bulletSupport parent enrollment or patron tracking through recruitment, intake, record keeping, database management, correspondence, mailings, and other clerical duties related to parent tutoring.
bulletMaintain a journal of daily activities.
bulletRecruit community volunteers to serve in activities.
bulletConduct weekly family literacy activities.
bulletDevelop and implement afternoon, evening, and weekend activities for grade school students.
bulletParticipate in all AmeriCorps training workshops and member development activities.
bulletAssist with Special Programs and Events.
bullet Prepare reports and related data to track student progress and demonstrate service activities.
bulletDevelop and implement special projects supporting family literacy.
bulletMeet with teachers and parents at student’s school to discuss life goals, grades, etc.
bulletHelp supervise students/youth.
bulletComplete other appropriate activities as assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Member Qualifications
 
bullet

Strong reading, writing, and oral communication skills.

bullet

Skilled in tutoring and mentoring, and supervising large groups of students.

bullet

Strong interpersonal skills; team player.

bullet

Ability to follow directions, take initiative, and complete tasks.

bullet

Knowledge of TeenREACH program and volunteer procedures desirable.

bullet

Some College preferred.

bullet

Ability to spearhead, and coordinate community neighborhood events.

bullet

Basic computer skills (Word & Excel).
